Overview
Jas Bhalla Works is a multidisciplinary practice that undertakes projects across architecture, policy research, urbanism, and masterplanning. To support the establishment of their new studio, we collaborated on developing a new name for the practice and created a compelling visual identity and website.
Opportunity
Each architectural practice faces various challenges, with the space being particularly competitive in the London area. How could we ensure that this young studio’s work is well-positioned in the industry and that its values and expertise are effectively communicated? Over several months of collaboration, a number of opportunities emerged. Their previous name, Jas Bhalla Architects, did not fully capture the studio’s expertise, failing to support their desired positioning and ambitions. Additionally, their fragmented visual identity did not fully showcase their professionalism and lacked distinctive qualities.
Outcome
Having collaborated with Jas Bhalla, his team, and Julia Nicholls, we provided the studio with a new name. Jas Bhalla Works encapsulates the expertise and wide range of disciplines that inform the practice’s work. The name is presented as a logotype that utilises Gestura Display—a modern serif family that conveys quality and attention to detail while incorporating the quirks of contemporary characters. The colour palette features a striking orange hue and a contrasting deep green, inspired by the colours used in the practice, creating a sense of familiarity and manifesting their work outwards. The collaboration resulted in a unique, striking identity that presents the practice in a professional and design-focused manner.

“Our collaboration has definitely felt very successful [in terms of] the big picture strategy and website development. Adam was quick to respond to requests and communicated clearly where he was at in the design process throughout. The final outcome has given us a strong foundation for the new brand.”
